the Concorde Bar is the centerpiece of the fit out, and it is the first of its kind to open in any of the BA lounges in the world. aplusi asia worked together with the consultant team to implement BA’s vision of an intimate lounge experience similar to one’s private residence.

aplusi asia was appointed as the local design firm to assist in the development, drawing documentation and fit out implementation of British Airways’ all-new business and first class lounge which occupies 1,005 sqm at Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 1.

BA engaged the services of a British firm to design the lounge based on the BA Galleries Lounge Manual, which contains standard details, finishes and furniture specifications for lounges across the globe. A second British firm was hired to create a new concept for the exclusive Concorde Bar, an exclusive First Class section separated from the main lounge. Among aplusi asia’s design responsibilities were the refinement of the layouts according to local Singapore Code, design of the washrooms and shower pods, sourcing of suppliers and local equivalent of the specified materials and furniture and the development of details for construction. aplusi asia then continued onto the drawing documentation, tender and construction supervision of the lounge, closing out with assisting BA on the selection of artwork and accessories.

The Main Galleries Lounge is divided into different zones for relaxing, dining, working and mingling – all distinguished by the assortment of purposeful furniture. It incorporates signature BA design elements such as the intricate reception feature wall, island bar, high workbenches and washrooms. The western contemporary design of the lounge is complemented by the use of Asian-inspired artwork and decorations and a feature screen that spans behind the banquette seating.
